What is Pico de Gallo?

Pico de Gallo is a popular Mexican salsa with fresh tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime juice. Pico is packed full of mouth-watering flavor.  Moreover, it makes a great garnish because of the iconic red, white, and green colors reminiscent of the Mexican flag. Add a little to fried eggs in the morning for a power breakfast. Add to avocado for a special homemade guacamole. Use as a condiment to tacos, burritos, and nachos for an added flavor bomb. My Favorite Mexican Salsa

Pico is by far my favorite Mexican condiment! Not only is it a nutritional powerhouse, it is incredibly flavorful. In addition to that, it is extremely versatile. Let’s not forget to mention how easy it is to make. Growing up in Los Angeles, California, I had access to a lot of Mexican restaurants. Although some had amazing pico, some not so much. Especially when I tried making it at home it just didn’t come out right. And have you tried buying pico at a store? The price for a little container will leave you broke and unable afford any other food with it. And if that wasn’t bad enough, store bought pico usually has high amounts of preservatives which give it a bitter aftertaste. 

Despite trying to make it on my own and failing, I decided to continue until I got it right. As a result, I have perfected the recipe. Ultimately, I have created something very special. I’m here to share my favorite pico recipe and the secret ingredient that will help you master the art of making the best homemade pico.
